VMG principal John Wagithuku has over 15 years of experience in both the property management and multifamily staffing industries. John worked at The Bozzuto Group for 11 years in both management operations and asset management roles. He has also served as CEO and Partner at Intersolutions, Inc.

John Wagithuku is founder and president of VMG Resources, LLC (VMG), a property management staffing agency  based in Washington, D.C. VMG offers contract, temporary, permanent, corporate and executive staffing for property management companies in the Washington DC and Baltimore, MD metropolitan areas.

Mr. Wagithuku is an accomplished and highly credentialed property management veteran with over 15 years of experience in all aspects of multifamily property management. He previously served as CEO and Partner with Intersolutions, a property management staffing agency  serving the Washington, Baltimore, and Philadelphia regions. While with Intersolutions, Mr. Wagithuku was responsible for increasing the firm’s revenue from $3.5 million in 2006 to $6 million by 2009. Mr. Wagithuku’s responsibilities included strategic planning, marketing, sales, recruiting, and operations management. He revamped the organization’s property management recruiting and employee retention programs, resulting in a strong core team and reliable pool of temporary employees. During his tenure at Intersolutions, Mr. Wagithuku created and cemented relationships with local and national property management firms of all sizes. The fostering of these new relationships, combined with the preservation of his existing relationships in the industry was key to the marked growth of the company under his leadership.

Before joining Intersolutions, Mr. Wagithuku worked for 11 years with The Bozzuto Group of Greenbelt, MD, one of the nation’s top multifamily development and management firms. He began his career as a front desk clerk and rose through the ranks to become a Leasing consultant, regional property manager, and asset manager. Ultimately, Mr. Wagithuku managed a portfolio of approximately 4,000 multifamily units owned fully or in part by company principals. In this role, he maximized total returns for each asset by analyzing property efficiencies and identifying opportunities for improved performance. His work also included managing the refinancing and disposition of assets, ranging in size from $12 million to $200 million.

Mr. Wagithuku is an Accredited Residential Manager and has been a candidate for the Certified Property Manager accreditation. He is a recipient of the Property Management Professional of the Year Award for the Property Management Association, the largest association of its kind in the United States.  He was nominated for the National Association of Home Builders’ Pillars of the Industry Property Manager of The Year Award. He has developed an extensive professional network through membership and participation in AOBA, IREM, MMHA, the Urban Land Institute, and the Property Management Association. He served on PMA’s Board of Directors for five years and was elected Chair of its Associates Council.
